Woman ejected from golf cart sues owners

Lindsay Bourn claims she was injured after she was ejected from a golf cart while at a social gathering in Belleville last year.

Bourn was riding on a golf cart that owners of property at 2749 Rentchler Rd. had provided for an event and was ejected, according to the complaint filed Feb. 20 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Because of the accident, Bourn experienced pain, suffering, disability and disfigurement, incurred medical expenses and lost income, the suit states.

She also claims she experienced loss of a normal life and increased risk for future injury.

The owners of the place, Timothy and Mathew Hagerty, were negligent by failing to warn the driver of the golf cart of a mound on the premises, by failing to inspect the premises to detect whether the premises were reasonably safe and by allowing a participant at the gathering to operate a golf cart.

In the two-count suit, Bourn is seeking a judgment in excess of $100,000, plus costs.

Bourn will be represented by Daniel K. Juncker of Belleville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0089.
