Route 157 accident is subject of suit

A Collinsville woman and her husband have filed suit against a Glen Carbon woman, alleging the Collinsville woman was injured after the Glen Carbon woman rear-ended her.

Betty J. Weckmann was driving her 2004 Chrysler north on Illinois State Route 157 and was stopped in traffic on March 23, 2007, at about 2:08 p.m. when Dorothy B. Bonn collided with the rear of her vehicle, according to the complaint filed Feb. 19 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Because of the collision, Betty J. Weckmann sustained injuries, suffered mental and physical pain and anguish and incurred medical costs, the suit states

Betty J. Weckmann claims she has been unable to perform her work as she was able to in the past and has lost wages.

Clark D. Weckmann, Betty J. Weckmann's husband, suffered the loss of her services and was deprived of her affection, society, companionship and consortium, according to the complaint.

He was also hindered from attending to his usual affairs and incurred medical costs.

Bonn was negligent by driving at a speed too fast for road conditions, by driving too closely to Betty J. Weckmann and by failing to stop in time to avoid a collision, according to the complaint.

In the two-count suit, the Weckmanns are seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.

They are represented by Mark D. Hassakis of Hassakis and Hassakis and Antonik Law Offices in Mount Vernon.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0142.
