A former employee of Valvoline Instant Oil Change in Wood River claims she was terminated after she suffered a work-related injury.
Kristin Althardt of Roxana filed suit in Madison County Circuit Court claiming she was terminated in retaliation for exercising her rights under the Illinois Worker's Compensation Act.
According to the complaint filed Feb. 17, Ashland Inc., doing business as Valvoline Instant Oil Change, terminated her on Jan. 30, four days after she suffered an injury.
Althardt is seeking in excess of $50,000 in compensatory damages, plus punitive damages and costs of the suit.
