Yvette Johnson has filed suit against Lisa R. Schaffer, alleging her neck, back and head were injured in a collision.
Johnson was driving on the east-bound off-ramp of I-55/70 at Bluff Road in Collinsville on Dec. 24 when Schaffer, who was driving behind her, failed to stop for traffic and rear-ended Johnson, according to the complaint filed Feb. 12 in Madison County Circuit Court.
In addition to her injuries, Johnson was made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled, received injuries to the soft tissues of the cervical, shoulder and lumbar area and incurred medical expenses, the suit states.
She also claims she suffered disability, experienced pain and suffering and lost money from a loss of wages.
Schaffer was negligent by failing to keep a proper lookout, by driving in such a way that she struck the rear of Johnson's vehicle, by failing to properly apply her brakes, by driving too fast and by following Schaffer more closely than was reasonable, according to the complaint.
Johnson is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
She is represented by Thomas C. Rich and Jennifer L. Barbieri of Fairview Heights.
