Woman claims injuries from North Belt West accident

A woman claims she received a neck sprain and back injuries after a Belleville man attempted to make a U-turn, but instead side-swiped the vehicle she was driving.

Cynthia Kaye was driving east on the 4200 block of North Belt West in Belleville on Feb. 15, 2007, at about 6:20 p.m. when K. Douglas Hamman, who was driving west on North Belt West, made a U-turn and hit the side of her car, according to the complaint filed Feb. 4 in Madison County Circuit Court.

In addition to her neck sprain and back injuries, Kaye experienced ongoing pain and suffering and incurred medical expenses, the suit states.

She claims Hamman was negligent by failing to keep a lookout for other vehicles, by failing to stop his vehicle to avoid an accident, by failing to maintain his vehicle in the proper lane and by driving into the side of Kaye's vehicle.

Kaye is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus other relief the court deems just.

Mark Levy of Collinsville will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0098.
