13 new asbestos cases filed Jan. 26-30

A total of 13 new asbestos suits were filed in Madison County during the week of Jan. 26 through Jan. 30.

The following claims were filed:

--Lee and Betty Bowers of Kansas claim Lee developed mesothelioma after his work from 1962 until 2002 as a mechanic and truck driver at various locations throughout Illinois. The Bowers are represented by Shane F. Hampton and Paul M. Dix of SimmonsCooper in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0077.

--Leroy and Norma Clark of Florida claim Leroy developed mesothelioma after his work from 1951 until 1992 as a laborer, carpenter, forklift operator and foreman. The Clarks are represented by Shane F. Hampton and Paul M. Dix of SimmonsCooper in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0066.

--Barbara Sue Dreher claims mesothelioma on behalf of her recently deceased husband, Norbert Dreher. Norbert Dreher worked as a carpenter throughout Illinois, Missouri and Kansas from 1960 until 1996, according to the complaint. Barbara Sue Dreher is represented by Perry J. Browder, John A. --Leroy and Marjorie Ducommun of New Mexico claim Leroy developed multiple myeloma after serving in the U.S. Navy from 1944 until 1946 and after working as a pipefitter and welder from 1948 until 1985. --Carl and Denise Gold of Kentucky claim Carl developed mesothelioma after working as a boilerman for the U.S. Navy from 1966 until 1972. The Golds are represented by Randy L. Gori and Barry Julian of Gori, Julian and Associates in Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0062.

--Patricia and Albert Lazowski of Illinois claim Patricia developed mesothelioma after her work as a laborer from 1958 through the 1970s. She was also exposed to asbestos through her husband, who worked as a laborer for 23 years, according to the complaint. The Lazowskis are represented by Randy L. --Holger Lochheed of Texas, hotel business owner, pilot, restaurant business owner and worker, assistant general manager, general manager and delivery truck driver from 1957 until 2007, claims mesothelioma. He is represented by Christopher R. Guinn, Christopher J. Levy, John A. Barnerd and Perry J. Browder of SimmonsCooper in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0068.

--Walter Malisani of Colorado, a machinist apprentice, machinist and maintenance worker from 1954 until 2000 in Illinois, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Utah, Colorado, Washington, New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, Wyoming, Idaho, Indiana, Arkansas and Wisconsin, claims mesothelioma. He is represented by Timothy F. Thompson Jr. and Stephanie Lyons of SimmonsCooper in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0054.

--Pat and Patricia Montgomery of Kentucky claim Pat developed mesothelioma after helping his father on a family farm from 1951 until 1957. He was also exposed to asbestos through his work as a laborer from 1958 until 1967, as a mechanic in 1964, as a plastic molder from 1967 until 1969, as a part-time laborer from 1969 until 1971, as a pipe fitter in 1971, as a mechanic and driller from 1972 until 1973, as a miner and mechanic from 1973 until 1974, as a mechanic and pipefitter from 1986 until 1999 and as a mechanical millwright from 1974 until 1982, according to the suit. Elizabeth V. Heller and Robert Rowland of Goldenberg, Heller, Antognoli and Rowland in Edwardsville will be representing them. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0059.

--Donald and Marlene Peters of Illinois claim Donald Peters developed benzene related non-Hodgkins lymphoma through his work as a laborer from 1952 until 1992. The Peters are represented by Randy L. --Estill L. and Hessie Shepherd of Michigan claim Estill developed lung cancer after his work as a molder from 1951 until 1961, as a laborer in the U.S. Army from 1952 until 1954, as a bartender from 1961 until 1963, as a laborer from 1963 until 1965 and as a welder and fabricator from 1964 until 1999. The Shepherds are represented by Randy L. Gori and Barry Julian of Gori, Julian and Associates of Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0061.

-Christine Warner of Tennessee claims her recently deceased mother, Irene Marsh, developed mesothelioma because of her work as a sales and seamstress at House of Fashions in Memphis from 1959 until 1993. Marsh was also exposed to asbestos through her father's work on a farm from 1934 until 1945 and from his work as a lineworker for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Memphis from 1945 until 1952, according to the complaint. Marsh was further exposed to asbestos fibers through her husband, who worked as a plumber from 1952 until 1955 and as an assembly line worker and welder from 1955 until 1960, the suit states. Warner is represented by Elizabeth V. Heller and Robert Rowland of Goldenberg, Heller, Antognoli and Rowland in Edwardsville. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0055.

--Jane White of Missouri claims mesothelioma on behalf of her recently deceased husband, Gary White. He worked from 1955 until 1965 as a boiler operator in the U.S. Navy, from 1965 until 1966 as a welder, from 1966 until 1971 as a laborer at B & H Transport, from 1971 until 1977 as a laborer at Import Auto Transport and from 1977 until 1991 as a laborer for his asphalt repair service, according to the complaint. The Whites are represented by Randy L. Gori and Barry Julian of Gori, Julian and Associates in Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0076.
