Alton car crash is subject of suit

A Madison County woman has filed suit against a Medora man and another man, alleging she was seriously injured in a collision.

Janis M. Pistolis was riding in a BMW that Sarkie Nighossian was driving on Dec. 10, 2007, north on Highway 67 near Alton when the collision occurred, according to the complaint filed Feb. 3 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Corry E. Wilton, who was driving behind Nighossian's vehicle, rear-ended it, the suit states.

Because of the accident, Pistolis claims she suffered severe and permanent injuries to her back and spine.

Wilton was negligent by failing to steer to avoid a collision and by failing to apply sufficient brakes to avoid a collision, according to the complaint.

Nighohossian negligently failed to take note of his surroundings, failed to view his mirrors and failed to note that Wilton was about to collide with his vehicle, the suit states.

In the two-count suit, Pistolis is seeking a judgment in excess of $100,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems appropriate.

Thomas G. Maag of Wendler Law in Edwardsville will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0090.
