Neck and back injuries claimed in suit

An Alton woman claims her neck and back were bruised, crushed and displaced after a man collided with her while she was stopped at a red light.

Lisa K. Oxford was waiting for the light to turn green at the intersection of Niagra and W. St. Louis Avenue in East Alton on March 9, 2007, when Jacob R. Lloyd hit her as he was turning right onto W. St. Louis Avenue, according to the complaint filed Feb. 2 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Because of the accident, which occurred at about 4:52 p.m., Oxford was hindered and prevented from attending to her usual duties and affairs, incurred medical costs and lost large sums of money that would have accrued to her, the suit states.

Lloyd was negligent by failing to reduce his speed, by failing to keep his vehicle under control, by failing to keep a proper lookout, by failing to yield the right-of-way and through improper lane usage, Oxford claims.

Oxford is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.

Bob L. Perica of The Perica Law Firm in Wood River will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0082.
