Woman claims injuries in collision

A woman who claims her neck, back, shoulders, right hand and body were injured after an accident has filed suit against the man who collided with her.

Vicki Carlock was driving north on Black Jack Road on Jan. 25, 2007, when Gary Hall, who was driving east on East Kirsch Road, "violently struck her," according to the complaint filed Jan. 23 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

In addition to her injuries, Carlock will be hindered from attending to her usual duties and affairs and will lose large sums of money, the suit states.

She claims she also experienced great physical and mental pain, suffering and anguish and incurred medical costs.

Hall was negligent because he failed to keep a proper lookout for Carlock, failed to observe Carlock, failed to keep his vehicle under control to avoid colliding with Carlock, failed to apply his brakes when he knew danger was imminent, failed to decrease his speed to avoid a collision and failed to turn to avoid striking Carlock, according to the complaint.

Hall also negligently failed to give proper warning of his approach and drove too closely to Carlock, the suit states.

Charlock is seeking $50,000, plus costs.

Michael P. Hickey of Brown and Brown in Fairview Heights will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0032.
