Woman in wheelchair claims injuries aboard bus

A St. Clair County woman claims she was injured as she was riding in her wheelchair on a bus.

Ellanora Zysk was traveling from The Cedars at the JCA to her home Feb. 7, 2007, when she was injured, according to the complaint filed Jan. 26 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

The suit does not state how Zysk received her back and body injuries, but does say she sustained great pain and mental anguish.

Zysk also incurred medical costs, she alleges.

Employees of The Cedars at the JCA, which controlled the bus, were negligent by driving too fast, by failing to adequately secure Zysk in her wheelchair and by failing to drive at a proper speed in light of the load in the vehicle and in light of the road conditions, according to the complaint.

Zysk is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.

Gregory L. Shevlin of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer and Shevlin in Belleville will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0039.
