The executor of a deceased Edwardsville man's estate has filed suit against Edwardsville Nursing and Rehab Center, alleging the now- deceased man dislocated his hip while living at the center.
Ronnie K. Williams claims Wilburn W. Williams fell on Dec. 29, 2007, while at the facility and dislocated his hip, according to the complaint filed Jan. 6 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Because of his injury, Wilburn W. Williams suffered a marked deterioration of his prior physical condition, incurred medical costs, suffered great pain and anguish and experienced a permanent disability, the suit states.
Edwardsville Nursing and Rehab Center was negligent by failing to timely report Wilburn W. Williams's injury and by failing to notify Wilburn W. William's physician of his accident, the suit states.
Ronnie K. Williams claims the center also negligently failed to assist and encourage Wilburn W. Williams with ambulation and safe transfer activities, failed to make objective observations of changes in his condition and failed to take necessary precautions to assure his environment remained free of accident hazards.
Edwardsville Nursing and Rehab Center negligently failed to employ sufficient staff to provide adequate medical and personal care to Wilburn W. Williams and violated its own resident care policies by failing to provide necessary care and services to its residents, according to the complaint.
In the two-count suit, Ronnie K. Williams is seeking a judgment in excess of $100,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
