Washington Park accident is subject of suit

Henry Raney has filed suit against an O'Fallon man, alleging he was injured after a collision.

Raney was driving south on Illinois Route 111 at its intersection with St. Clair Avenue on Feb. 8, 2007, at about 7:30 a.m., when the collision occurred, according to the complaint filed Nov. 20 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Carl Thomas, Jr., was driving west on St. Clair Avenue and approaching the intersection of Illinois Route 111 in Washington Park when he collided with Raney, the suit states.

Because of the accident, Raney claims he was injured, prevented from attending to his usual duties, incurred medical expenses and lost large sums of money which he otherwise would have received.

Thomas was negligent because he failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to stop at a red light, according to the complaint.

Raney is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.

Joseph E. Hoefert of Alton will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 08-L-596.
