Emerson Park failed to pay for charter school operations, suit says

Charter Consultants has filed a breach of contract complaint against Emerson Park Development Corporation, alleging it failed to pay for the operation and management of a charter school.

Charter Consultants claims it was hired by Emerson Park Development Corp. to manage and operate a charter school in East St. Louis named Tomorrow's Builders Youth Charter School from Jan. 3, 2000, through Dec. 31, 2007, but that Emerson Park Development Corporation has failed to pay for its services.

"Defendant owes Plaintiff a balance of $97,872.06 per the billings, and the parties' agreement," the complaint filed Nov. 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court states.

In addition to the balance due, Charter Consultants is seeking attorney fees, costs and prejudgment interest of 15 percent per annum.

Charter Consultants is represented by Eric M. Rhein of Belleville.
