A Carlyle woman has filed suit against another Carlyle woman, alleging she was severely injured after a rear-end collision.
Sharon DeBolt was driving west on Interstate 64 near East St. Louis on Nov. 22, 2006, when Marcella Deiters, who was driving in the same direction, collided with the back of De Bolt's vehicle, according to a complaint filed Nov. 3 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Because of the accident, DeBolt claims she suffered a loss of income, pain and discomfort and incurred medical expenses.
Deiters was negligent because she failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, failed to stop to avoid a collision, failed to properly apply her brake, drove too fast and failed to reduce her speed to avoid a collision, the suit states.
DeBolt is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
John H. Fredrick, Jr., of Nelson and Nelson in Belleville will be representing her.
