Stephen Strasser has filed suit against Cord Moving and Storage, alleging a ramp attached to the back of one of the company's trucks collapsed while Strasser was on it causing a refrigerator to fall on his foot.
"As Plaintiff and another employee of Professional Installers was moving a refrigerator on a dolly over Defendant's metal ramp, the metal ramp suddenly and without warning broke at a seam or weld," the complaint filed Nov. 6 in St. Clair County Circuit Court states. "That caused Defendant's metal ramp to tilt, Plaintiff to fall to the ground, and the refrigerator to crush Plaintiff's right foot."
Strasser was working for Professional Installers and was moving and setting up equipment in a building in Quincy when the incident occurred on Oct. 6, 2007, according to the complaint.
In addition to his broken foot, Strasser claims he incurred medical expenses, lost wages and suffered pain, weakness, restriction of movement, numbness and other limitations in his right foot.
His injuries are painful and permanent and his ability to enjoy life has been diminished, damaged and impaired, according to the complaint.
Cord Moving and Storage was negligent because it supplied a defective ramp for the Professional Installers employees, the suit states.
Strasser is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
James E. Parrot of the Law Office of James E. Parrot in St. Louis will be representing him.
