Granite City auto accident leads to suit

Rayson L. Barnes has filed suit against Sondra Huber, claiming his right shoulder, left hand, left elbow and back were injured after a collision.

Barnes was driving his 2001 Ford F-250 south on Illinois Route 3 at its intersection with St. Thomas Road in Granite City on Nov. 15, 2006, when the accident happened, according to a complaint filed Oct. 20 in Madison County Circuit Court.

At the same time, Sondra Huber was driving her 1991 Chevrolet in the same direction and tried to make a left-hand turn when she collided with Barnes, the suit states.

In addition to his injuries, Barnes claims he incurred substantial medical costs because of the accident and experienced pain and suffering, lost wages, a loss of earning capacity and disability and disfigurement.

Huber was negligent because she failed to reduce her speed to avoid colliding with Barnes's vehicle, drove too fast, failed to avoid a collision, failed to keep a proper lookout and attempted to make a left turn while driving in the right lane, according to the complaint.

Barnes is represented by Rodney D. Gaffey of The Lakin Law Firm in Wood River.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 08-L-1021.
