Woman sues over crash

Tracy J. Kostic has filed suit individually and on behalf of her 16-year-old daughter against Amanda A. Ronk, alleging they were injured in a collision.

Kostic was driving her 1998 Mercury Mountaineer north near the intersection of Maryville Road with the Georgetown Apartments with her then 14-year-old daughter, Brittany N. Hagy, as a passenger on Sept. 24, 2006, according to a complaint filed Sept. 23 in Madison Circuit Court.

Ronk was driving her 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix west near the same intersection and collided with Kostic's Mercury, the suit states.

Kostic claims she and her daughter suffered severe and permanent injuries and great pain and anguish.

As a result of the accident, they also could not attend to their usual duties and affairs, the suit states.

Kostic claims she has become responsible for medical costs.

Ronk was negligent because she failed to stop in order to avoid the accident, drove her Grand Prix without enough control to be able to stop, drove too fast, failed to keep an adequate lookout, failed to have adequate brakes and failed to yield the right-of-way, according to the complaint.

In the three-count suit, Kostic is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, another in excess of $15,000, but less than $50,000, and another less than $10,000, plus the costs of the suit.

Kenneth B. Beljanski of Mateyka & Associates in Granite City will be representing Kostic.
