Route 111 crash subject of lawsuit

Vanita A. Turcol has filed suit against Carolyn S. Traband, alleging she was injured after a collision.

Turcol was driving north on Illinois Route 111 near its intersection with Acton Avenue on Jan. 28, 2007, according to the complaint filed Sept. 22 in Madison Circuit Court.

At the same time, Traband was driving east on Acton Avenue when she proceeded into the northbound lanes of Illinois Route 111 and collided with Turcol's vehicle, the suit states.

Turcol claims she suffered bodily injury causing her pain and suffering, a loss of a normal life and loss of income.

As a result of the accident, Turcol also became disfigured and was responsible for medical costs, according to the complaint.

Traband was negligent because she failed to slow down to avoid the collision, drove too fast for the road conditions, failed to stop before she entered the intersection, failed to give the right-of-way and failed to pay attention to cross traffic, the suit states.

Turcol is seeking $50,000, plus costs of the suit.

Thomas O. Falb of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson in Alton will be representing her.

Madison Circuit Court case number: 08-L-860.
