Lebanon car crash subject of St. Clair County suit

Rhody and Betty Campbell have filed a suit against Lauren Lewis, alleging they were injured after a collision with Lewis.

The Campbells claim they were traveling west on U.S. Highway 50 at the intersection of Lebanon Avenue in Lebanon on Nov. 1, according to a complaint filed Sept. 16 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Lewis was driving east on U.S. Highway 50 and was preparing to turn onto Belleville Street when she collided with their vehicle, the suit states.

The Campbells claim they were made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled and suffered extensive injuries to their heads, bodies, limbs and the soft tissues of their cervical, shoulder and lumbar areas, causing disability.

Rhody claims he suffered additional injuries to his neck and face.

Betty claims she suffered additional injuries to her chest and left breast.

In addition, they had to pay medical costs and experienced pain and suffering, the suit states.

The Campbells claim Lewis was negligent because she failed to keep a proper lookout, caused the accident, failed to keep the vehicle under proper control, failed to properly apply the brakes and failed to reduce her speed.

In the two-count suit, the Campbells seek an amount in excess of $100,000, plus the costs of the suit.

They are represented by Williams, Caponi, Foley & Eckert in Belleville.
