A Nebraska corporation has filed suit against the Katherine Dunham Centers for Arts and Humanities, alleging it has failed to pay money it owes.
States Resources Corp. claims the center promised to pay the corporation $50,000, plus interest, on Jan. 8, 2001, in exchange for good and valuable consideration.
The center has refused to make payments, despite repeated demands to do so, according to a complaint filed Sept. 12 in St. Clair Circuit Court.
As of June 30, it owed $56,788.13 for the balance, plus interest and late fees, the suit states.
After June 30, interest continues to grow at the rate of $9.57 per day, States Resources Corp. claims.
In addition to the money and interest owed it, States Resources Corp is seeking costs and fees and post-judgment interest at the highest rate permitted by law.
Shawn T. Briner and Hilary H. Sommer of Martin, Leigh, Laws & Fritzlen in St. Louis will be representing the company.
