Breach suit filed against STL Homes

An Illinois resident has filed a breach of contract complaint against a Missouri resident and corporation, alleging they failed to pay him back a $2,500 investment.

Nicholas Meirink claims Gary Dees and STL Homes promised him an investment return of 15 percent in three months and if not, he would receive his $2,500 back.

"That, following the passage of the initial three months, with plaintiff having secured absolutely zero return on his investment, plaintiff began taking steps to avail himself of defendant's promise to return his $2,500," states the complaint filed Sept. 11 in St. Clair County.

Meirink alleges the agreement is valid through a contract executed by both parties July 12, 2007.

Dees's and STL Homes's actions constitute an egregious and material breach, the suit states.

Meirink claims he has also incurred actual and emotional damage and has suffered ongoing deprivation of the $2,500 and great distress.

In the four-count suit, Meirink is seeking a judgment in excess of $150,000, the return of the money, plus interest, costs and attorney's fees.

He is represented by Thomas Q. Keefe of Belleville.
