Jeannette R. Strieter has filed suit against Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, claiming she injured herself after she slipped on spilled water.
Streiter claims she fractured her left hip and injured her right shoulder when the incident occurred on May 11, according to the complaint filed Sept. 2 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Streiter said she had to undergo surgery and hospitalization.
She claims she could not care for her husband and experienced a loss of her normal life.
She also has and may continue to incur medical expenses and pain and suffering, the suit states.
Strieter claims the church was negligent because it failed to clean up water that had accumulated on the floor and failed to place a mat on the floor where people could wipe their feet upon entering the building.
She is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000.
Strieter is represented by John H. Leskera of Leskera Law Firm in Collinsville.
