Brenda J. Whitaker has filed a suit against Michael H. Wallace, alleging she sustained injuries in a collision.
Whitaker claims she was traveling west on Niedringhaus Avenue in Granite City on Feb. 6, 2007, according to a complaint filed Sept. 2 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Whitaker was struck from behind "with great force and violence" by Wallace's vehicle, according to the complaint.
She suffered permanent and severe injuries, including a severe injury to her shoulder, the lawsuit states.
She claims she has and will continue to experience pain, suffering, a loss of earnings, disability and loss of enjoyment of life.
Whitaker also claims she has and will continue to have to pay for medical expenses.
She claims Wallace was negligent because he failed to keep a proper lookout for her vehicle, failed to reduce speed to avoid an accident with her, drove his vehicle so close to hers to create an unreasonable risk of harm and failed to brake.
Whitaker is seeking $50,000, plus the costs of the suit.
She is represented by Ronald A. Roth of Roth Evans, P.C. in Granite City.
