Route 13 rear-end collision prompts suit

Philamina Johnson has filed suit against Lyvern Adams, alleging she was seriously injured in a rear-end collision.

Johnson claims she was driving east on IL-13 and was stopped at South 74th Street on Aug. 21, 2007, at about 6:39 p.m., according to a complaint filed Aug. 26 in St. Clair Circuit Court.

She claims Adams failed to stop and collided into the rear of her car.

According to the lawsuit, Johnson's neck, back, bones, discs, joints, muscles, tendons, tissues, nerves, membranes, ligament and vessels were severely bruised, contused, lacerated, sprained, strained, cracked, wrenched, swollen, weakened, twisted and torn.

She claims her wounds caused medical expenses, a loss of wages and pain, suffering and discomfort, which she says will continue in the future.

Johnson claims Adams was negligent because she failed to keep a proper and sufficient lookout for other vehicles, failed to keep her vehicle under proper and sufficient control, failed to maintain adequate braking distance, collided with the back of Johnson's car and failed to keeps her vehicle under control.

She is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000 with the costs of the suit.

She is represented by Christopher Hoffman of The Hoffman Law Firm in St. Louis.
