Woman sues for being hit in parking lot

Kelly Hart has filed a personal injury lawsuit against Ashley Grant, alleging Grant collided with her while she was walking in a Dollar General parking lot.

Hart was walking south in the parking lot when Grant "violently struck" her with her automobile, the suit filed July 23 in Madison County Circuit Court says.

The lawsuit does not say at which Dollar General location the alleged incident occurred.

Hart claims Grant was negligent because she failed to keep a proper lookout and avoid striking her.

She is also accused of failing to keep her vehicle under proper control, to decrease her speed and for failing to give proper warning that she was approaching, court papers say.

Hart claims the collision caused severe and permanent injuries to her chest, hips, legs, shoulders, knees, ankles and body as a whole, which caused and continues to cause great pain, suffering, anguish, medical expenses and lost earnings.

Hart is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs. She is represented by Michael Hickey of Fairview Heights.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Court Judge Andy Matoesian.
