A woman who tripped and fell at Kerasotes Theatres in Edwardsville has filed a personal injury complaint against the movie theater, alleging they failed to properly maintain their premises.
Sally Schultz alleges while entering the theater on May 23 she fell on a raised platform that separates the upper and lower seating areas.
Schultz claims Kerasotes had a duty to maintain their premises in a manner so as not to cause injuries to persons lawfully on the premises.
According to the complaint filed July 25 in Madison County Circuit Court, Kerasotes failed to warn patrons of the raised platform when they knew or should have known that patrons would encounter the platform.
Schultz claims the fall the caused a fracture to her shoulder, which caused and continues to cause great pain and suffering, medical expenses and lost wages.
Schultz is seeking damages in excess of $100,000, plus costs.
She is represented by Matthew Chapman of Granite City.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Court Judge Nicholas Byron.
