Tanning company sued over fan cut

Jenna Mattson has filed a personal injury suit against Hollywood Tan, alleging the tanning company was negligent.

Mattson claims she was at the Godfrey location on Sept. 17, 2007, when she cut her finger while attempting to move a circular fan on the floor.

The lawsuit filed in Madison County Circuit Court on July 10 claims Hollywood Tan failed to maintain their premises in a reasonably safe condition by providing customers with a fan that did not have an adequate protective cage.

Mattson claims she sustained injuries to her right thumb, which has and will continue to cause pain of body and mind, medical expenses and lost wages.

She is seeking damages in excess of $15,000, but less that $50,000.

Samuel Mormino, Jr., of Alton represents Mattson.

The case is awaiting mandatory arbitration.
