Man claims J.B. Hunt tractor trailer forced him off roadway

A St. Clair County man is suing J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. and its driver, alleging he was run off the roadway by a tractor trailer on northbound Interstate 55 near Lincoln.

Lawrence Butler filed suit July 10 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against the Lowell, Ark.-based trucking giant.

Butler claims the July 10, 2006 accident caused him to suffer back, neck and shoulder injuries.

He claims the driver, identified as John Doe in the suit, entered his lane of traffic without warning.

The suit claims the driver is negligent for failing to signal before changing lanes and failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Butler also suffered severe soreness, emotional pain and suffering, anxiety, mental distress and was required to undergo medical treatment. He also claims lost wages due to missed work, court papers say.

Represented by Eric W. Evans and Peter S. Blasi of Roth Evans of Granite City, Butler is seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages, and other relief as the Court deems just and equitable.
