An employee of BNSF Railway filed a filed a Federal Employers' Liability Act (FELA) suit in Madison County Circuit Court June 23, alleging he developed repetitive trauma injuries during his 32 year career with the railroad as a machine operator and truck driver.
Jack Gronewold claims BNSF violated the provisions of FELA by negligently failing to provide him a safe place to work, failing to provide safe methods of work, failing to provide sufficient manpower and failing to provide safe tools and equipment.
He claims he sustained severe and permanent injuries to his hands, wrist and body which caused and will continue to cause great pain and mental anguish. He also claims lost wages and medical expenses related to his injuries.
Represented by Gregory Tobin of East Alton, Gronewold is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David Hylla.
