La Mexicana patron taken to the ground by fellow patron

James Cox of Pontoon Beach is suing La Mexicana Restaurant for severe and permanent injuries he sustained Feb. 29 after another customer pushed him and/or fell on him.

Cox is seeking in excess of $450,000 in damages from the restaurant, its owners and Holly M. Cook, who was allegedly intoxicated when she caused Cox to fall to the ground, according to a suit filed June 11 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Represented by Todd Neilson of Callis, Papa, Hale, Szewczyk & Danzinger in Granite City, Cox also seeks compensation on behalf of his minor son who suffered injury to his means of support.

Cox claims the Pontoon Beach restaurant failed to take reasonable action to protect against the misconduct of a third party.
