Richard Dermott is seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages for injuries sustained on a Madison County Transit bus after the driver ran over a bump, according to a suit filed June 16 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Dermott claims he hit his head on the roof of the bus because the driver was driving too fast.
The incident took place Aug. 20, 2007, near the intersection of 23rd and Ohio Streets in Granite City, the complaint states.
Dermott claims he hurt his back and had to seek a physician's care.
"He has suffered internal derangement of the injured members of his body," the complaint states.
Dermott is represented by Richard G. Reed and Jeanine R. Armstrong of Reed and Bruhn in Belleville.
