Judge Crowder elected IJA Foundation president

Madison County Circuit Judge Barbara Crowder was elected president of the Illinois Judges Association Foundation at a meeting in Chicago May 29.

"I am honored to have been chosen to lead this Foundation which supports positive programs throughout the State of Illinois," Crowder said.

Other officers elected were: 1st Vice President, Judge Jesse Reyes of Chicago; 2nd Vice President, Justice Barbara Gilleran Johnson of Long Grove; 3rd Vice President, Judge Michael B. Hyman of Chicago; Secretary, Judge Stephen Mathers ofGalesburg; and Treasurer, Judge Sheila Murphy (Retired) of Chicago.

The Illinois Judges Association Foundation aims to promote public confidence in the integrity and impartiality of the judiciary; fosters awareness, respect and knowledge of the law, the legal system and the administration of justice; and facilitates diversity and inclusiveness in the judiciary and legal professions.

The Foundation also makes distributions and grants for charitable and educational entities.

Crowder previously served on the board of directors of the Illinois Judges Association for six years and has been active in judicial education and Illinois State Bar Association committees.
