Loading dock injury subject of suit against Massey Equipment

A Granite City man who was injured when a loading dock door fell on his foot at work filed a personal injury complaint against Massey Equipment Company in Madison County Circuit Court May 21.

Leonard Crone, employed by PFD Supply in Granite City, claims Massey Equipment failed to properly repair a door. According to the complaint, Crone was injured May 24, 2006 when dock door #10 malfunctioned, and without warning, fell on his foot.

He claims the day prior to the incident, Massey spent four hours repairing the door and then put it back into service.

Crone claims Massey negligently failed to repair the door, failed to properly inspect its work, placed the door back into service and failed to warn users of the door's defective condition.

He claims he suffered permanent injuries to the nerves, tissues and tendons in his left foot which caused and continues to cause great pain and suffering, medical expenses and lost wages.

Represented by Matthew Chapman of Granite City, Crone is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Barbara Crowder.
