Donald Weimer, M.D. and Belleville Orthopedics were named in a medical malpractice complaint by a woman who claims a surgical procedure on her right shoulder was negligently performed.

However, the lawsuit was dismissed three months after it was filed.

Plaintiff Angela Shaw filed a motion for voluntary dismissal.

St. Clair County Associate Judge Vincent Lopinot ordered the dismissal without prejudice on Aug. 7, 2008. Each party was ordered to bear its own costs.

According to a complaint filed May 12, 2008 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Angela Shaw claims she sustained increased aggravated and exacerbated permanent injuries, disability and pain and suffering while under Weimer's care.

She was represented by Jack A. Strellis of Strellis & Field in Waterloo.

Weimer and Belleville Orthopedics were represented by Margaret Lowery.
