A former engineer at Canadian National/Illinois Central Railroad claims he suffered injuries to his neck, back and legs due to engine vibration, according to a Federal Employers' Liability Act suit filed in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
John O. Baine filed suit April 24 claiming his injuries resulted in whole or in part due to his employer's negligence.
Represented by Ryan M. Furniss and Eric D. Holland of Holland, Groves & Schneller of St. Louis, Baine claims the railroad failed to provide him a safe place to work.
Among other things he claims the defendant failed to follow recommendations from ergonomics studies conducted in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Baine claims he suffered and will continue to suffer mental anguish. He also claims he had to undergo medical treatment, tests, therapy and x-rays and will require further medical treatment.
He is seeking in excess of $50,000 plus costs of the suit.
