An engineer for Illinois Central Railroad has filed a Federal Employers' Liability Act and negligence suit for injuries he received on his way to work.
Paul Douglas Stiff claims he was injured in a motor vehicle accident on Sept. 24, 2006, when a van used to transport him from East St. Louis to a train in Paducah, Ken. slid down an embankment on the side of the road.
Stiff is suing the railroad and M&C Transportation, claiming the van's driver operated the vehicle in a careless and reckless manner, according to the suit filed Dec. 4 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
The suit also claims the M&C Transportation driver failed to choose a safe route on which to transport Stiff to his job site.
Stiff claims he injured his neck, right shoulder, back and left leg.
Represented by Dawn M. Mefford of Simon Passanante in St. Louis, Stiff is seeking in excess of $100,000 in damages.
