Woman seeks $50k for neck injuries caused by mounted phone unit

Cynthia Thurm filed a personal injury suit against Wood River-based Phone Masters in Madison County Circuit Court Aug. 13, seeking damages in excess of $50,000 for neck injuries she allegedly received when a LCD display unit fell from its wall mount.

Thurm claims that on Jan. 19, 2006, Phone Masters fabricated and installed an LCD display unit on the premises of Olin in East Alton.

She claims Phone Masters had a duty to install the display unit to prevent it from falling, however claims the company was negligent for failing to attach the unit properly.

Represented by David Dugan of East Alton, Thrum also claims the company failed to install the unit properly to prevent the attachment and hardware from pulling loose or being extracted from the wall.

According to Strum, on Sept. 19, 2006, the LCD unit detached and fell from the wall striking her in the neck, neck and shoulders causing her to suffer great pain and anguish, medical expenses, lost wages, and the loss of ability to produce income.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Barbara Crowder.
