Dollar General sued for permitting dangerous aisles

Dollar General customer Shalanna Fayne, who tripped and fell on a clear liquid substance in the aisle of an Alton store last year, is seeking in excess of $100,000 in damages in a lawsuit filed Feb. 26 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Represented by Michael P. Glisson of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson of Alton, Fayne claims she suffered severe and permanent injuries to her left foot, ankle, leg and other areas of her body

She claims Dollar General is negligent for failing to maintain the aisles, failing to routinely and properly inspect the aisles, and failing to warn her of the dangerous conditions.

"...[S]he was caused to, and did trip and fall with great force and violence," the complaint states.

Fayne claims Dollar General knew or should have known the dangerous conditions existed.

"That one of said Dollar General store's employees said that she was aware of the liquid substance, but she was too busy to have it cleaned," the complaint states.
