Alton's Dollar General blamed for shopping cart stumble

Dollar General

Sixty five days after allegedly tripping over a shopping cart at the Alton Dollar General store, Barbara Coburn filed a personal injury suit seeking damages in excess of $50,000.

Coburn claims Dollar General was negligent and careless by leaving a shopping cart in the aisle on Sept. 17.

According to the suit filed Nov. 22 in Madison County Circuit Court, Coburn claims Dollar General failed to warn those in close proximity that the cart was in the aisle hidden by clothes.

She claims when she fell over the metal shopping cart she sustained injuries to her right knee, right hip, and low back which caused pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of wages and disability.

Coburn is represented by Lance Mallon of Wood River.
