High school track runner sues driver for foot injury

Belleville attorney Michael McGlynn filed suit on behalf of his daughter Maura McGlynn whose foot was run over more than three years ago while she was running with her high school track team.

The incident occurred near Belleview Park in Belleville on March 20, 2003.

Maura McGlynn claims that defendant Eileen Zweig drove her vehicle past some runners and approached her from behind, running over her foot. According to the complaint, McGlynn suffered injuries to her foot, nerves, bones and soft tissues.

"Defendant was negligent in failing to keep a proper lookout," the complaint filed Aug. 22 in St. Clair County Circuit Court states.

Michael McGlynn is the brother of Illinois Appellate Court Justice Stephen McGlynn who is running for a full term in the 5th District in November.

The suit seeks in excess of $50,000 in damages, plus costs.
