Motorcyclist seeks $1 million from trucking company over accident

A Marshall man filed a personal injury suit in federal court in Benton June 26, seeking $1 million in damages from Billman Trucking of New Point, Ind., alleging one of its drivers collided with his motorcycle on Illinois Route 1 on June 27, 2005.

Randy Blankenship claims that at the time of the accident, Billman driver Richard Bocock failed to keep a lookout for preferential traffic and failed to maintain proper control and management of his vehicle.

According to the complaint, Blankenship was headed south on Route 1, and Bocock was exiting westbound Interstate 70 and preparing to go southbound on Route 1 at the time of the collision.

Blankenship claims the collision caused severe and permanent injuries, medical expenses, pain and suffering and lost wages.

He is represented by Morris Lane Harvey of Mt. Vernon. The case has been assigned to District Judge J. Phil Gilbert.
