Lakin firm sued for legal malpractice

Lakin Law Firm in Wood River

Allen Wrye filed a legal malpractice suit against the Lakin Law Firm in Madison County Circuit Court Feb. 28, seeking damages in excess of $50,000.

Wrye, represented by St. Louis attorney Jim Leonard, claims he entered into a written agreement with Lakin involving a personal injury claim.

Wrye's suit does not state when the agreement was entered or which attorney at the Lakin Firm agreed to represent him.

According to Wrye, The Lakin Law Firm failed to timely file a claim on his behalf causing it to be dismissed on March 20, 2002.

"Defendant was negligent in failing to timely file a claim on behalf of Wrye," the complaint states.

Wrye claims The Lakin Law Firm's alleged negligence has deprived him of his ability to pursue a claim for his personal injuries to his head and neck.

The complaint does not state how Wrye allegedly injured himself.
