Dram Shop suit takes aim at Pop's

Pop's Saloon--a landmark in Sauget

John Link filed a Dram Shop lawsuit against Pop’s Saloon for serving alcohol to a patron who became intoxicated and caused an auto accident after leaving the Sauget bar on Dec. 10, 2004.

Kathy Johnson, who was traveling southbound on Route 3 near Stollie Road in St. Clair County, struck Link’s northbound vehicle in the side, according to the complaint. She is being sued for negligence.

“As a direct and proximate result of the consumption of alcohol, the patron was caused to become intoxicated,” the complaint filed Nov. 3 in St. Clair County stated.

Johnson’s blood alcohol concentration was in excess of .08 percent, over the legal limit.

Link’s suit seeks in excess of $100,000 in damages for injuries and medical expenses.

He is represented by Michael J. Sudekum of Schlueter, Mandel & Mandel of St. Louis.
