Pipefitter sues for fall on job site

A pipefitter who tripped over construction debris on a job site is suing Landshire and Clayco Inc. for neck and back injuries.

In a suit filed Nov. 3 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Anthony Cooper of O’Fallon claims he was carrying a heavy piece of pipe when he tripped over trash in a hallway at Landshire facility in Caseyville on May 15, 2004.

Cooper, employed by C&R Mechanical, is seeking in excess of $100,000 in damages. He is represented by James R. Williams of Williams, Caponi and Associates in Belleville.

According to the suit, Landshire was negligent for failing to hire sufficient staff to maintain a safe work environment and for terminating contracts for employees whose job was to remove trash from hallways.

“The plaintiff was made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled and suffered extensive injuries to his head, body and limbs, both internally and externally,” the suit states.
