Drunk patron's stumble leads to suit against bar

Fast Eddie's in Alton

One of the Metro-East's most popular bars was sued in Madison County Circuit Court Nov. 1 under the Dram Shop Act.

Krista Fry claims that on Nov. 14, 2004, she was at Fast Eddie’s Bon-Air in Alton sitting on a backless stool when a patron that had too much to drink unintentionally came into contact with the stool, knocking it out from underneath her causing her to fall to the ground.

According to Fry, the fall caused her to sustain personal injuries to her right hip and leg and made her suffer a loss of a normal life.

“Fry also suffered property loss as she has incurred medical, nursing, and hospital expenses and is reasonably expected to incur medical, nursing and hospital expenses in the future,” the complaint states.

Fry claims that the accident made her lose her ability to provide means for her 6-year-old child.

Represented by Lindsay Rakers of Goldenberg, Miller, Heller and Antognoli of Edwardsville, Fry is seeking damages in excess of $100,000 plus all costs of her suit.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Daniel Stack.
