Mother sues Casey's for floor buffer incident

Caseys General Store in Alton

Mildred Parker filed a $75,000 suit on her daughter's behalf against Casey’s General Store in Alton claiming an employee ran over her left foot with a floor buffer.

According to the suit filed July 26 in Madison County Circuit Court, Parker claims the incident took place April 30 as her daughter was walking in an aisle.

Casey’s was negligent because the employee operated the buffer in a reckless manner and failed to keep a proper lookout for patrons in the store, she claims.

Bones, ligaments, nerves and muscles in her daughter’s left foot were “greatly broken,” crushed and displaced which has hindered her from attending to her normal duties, Parker claims.

She is represented by Joseph Hoefert of Alton. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Philip Kardis in Granite City.
