A woman who allegedly slipped and fell at a Belleville McDonald's two years ago filed a $150,000 suit just before the statute of limitations was set to expire July 12 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Sandra Feldman of Mineral Point, Mo. claims as she entered the Westfield Plaza restaurant on July 13, 2003, she slipped and fell on a wet floor striking her head, neck, back, wrists and shoulders on a hard tile floor.
Feldman claims McDonald's was negligent by creating a wet floor, failing to place warnings or barricade the wet floor and not using anti-skid floor coverings.
According to the complaint, the fall caused Feldman to sustain a displaced fracture of the left distal radius, a displaced fracture of the ulnar styloid, a comminuted fracture of the distal radial metaphysic with angulation and had surgeries to repair those fractures.
Feldman also claims she suffered a torn rotator cuff that was surgically repaired, carpal tunnel syndrome, aggravation of cardiac problems, increased stress and emotional distress, pain and suffering and medical expenses in excess of $92,000.
She also claims disability and lost wages since the fall and will continue to lose wages in an amount presently unknown.
Feldman is represented by Phillip Tatlow and Paul Hamill of the St. Louis law firm of Hockensmith, Tatlow & McKinnis.
