After slipping on water, man sues for internal derangement

St. Joseph's Hospital of Highland

A man who worked as a contract employee for a physician at St. Joseph's Hospital in Highland is suing the hospital for more than $50,000 because he fell to the floor after stepping in water.

In a suit filed July 20 in Madison County Circuit Court, Danny Witt claims he injured muscles, ligaments, membranes, nerves and blood vessels in an accident Aug. 17, 2004.

Witt alleges the hospital failed to maintain its premises or warn him of dangerous conditions.

According to the complaint, he suffered great pain and mental anguish, was required to take medications and has suffered an "internal derangement of the injured members of his body."

Witt is represented by Richard Reed of Belleville. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Philip Kardis in Granite City.
