Maxwell's Restaurant named in personal injury case

After falling through an opening at the entrance of Maxwell's Restaurant in Belleville, Michael Payeur filed suit seeking in excess of $150,000 for injuries he suffered to his right arm.

According to the complaint filed June 20 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Payeur claims Maxwell's failed to keep the entrance way free from defects or obstructions in the flooring, failed to cover the opening in the entrance way, failed to place warning signs or cones in the entrance way, and failed to conduct any inspections of the entrance.

The complaint does not state when the alleged incident happened.

Payeur claims severe, serious and painful and permanent injuries to his right arm, medical expenses, lost wages, gains and profits, mental anguish, and he alleges he has been disabled both mentally and physically for the remainder of his life.

Payeur is represented by Grey Chatham of Swansea.
