Auto incident, impaired relationship leads to suit

Loretta Wilson of Granite City filed suit in Madison County Circuit Court June 27 against Bethalto resident Silas Smith alleging Smith collided with her husband while he was pushing his disabled car on the Chain of Rocks Bridge on Dec. 27, 2004.

Wilson is represented by Robert William Bosslet, Jr. of Bosslet and O’Leary of Granite City.

The suit claims Wilson's husband suffered a closed head injury with intracranial hemorrhage, broken ankle, broken leg, and aggravated a preexisting degenerative joint disease. All resulted in medical expenses in excess of $106,000.

Wilson alleges she has lost the benefit of her husband’s consortium, affection, care, companionship, and services as well as an impairment of the marital relationship.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Daniel Stack.
